Are We Timeless Leaders?

Organizations can be differentiated, separating the best from the rest based on how effective they are able to respond to change and as leaders we must act-knowing what to do even when we don’t know what to do.

Leaders cannot afford to wait for circumstances to change or the circumstances will change them.  This is truly the time for timeless leadership for the road ahead.

According to Korn Ferry, here are suggestions about what timeless leaders must consider:

Anticipate: We don’t need to be visionary of what lies ahead, with predictions,  rather we need to accurately perceive the reality of today.

Navigate: Be ready to course-correct or pivot in real time.  Navigation is the companion to anticipation and together they can keep us on an even keel. It happens in the present moment, with real-time agility and adjustments it’s proactive and purposeful.

Communication: Continuous communication is where leadership lives and breathes.  As leaders, we are both the message and the messenger. And when there is trust in what we say, there will be belief in what’s done by leaders.

Listen: Leaders must listen to what they don’t want to hear.  We must always listen twice as much as we speak.

Learn: Change accelerates learning and applying past experiences to new and first-time challenges, learning agility.

Lead: Inspire others to believe and then enable that belief to become reality.

As leaders, we must recognize that we must act, because no matter what is changing right now, there is no doubt it will change again. Change can be uncomfortable, sometimes, but the willingness to be open to change is significant for leaders for the road ahead.
